The focus is on the physiological and psychological needs of families as they are affected by pregnancy, labor and birth, postpartum, and newborn stages. Clinical focuses on care of clients in community and acute care settings. Theoretical content provides an overview of the care of clients with diverse cultural backgrounds and spiritual needs as well as principles of therapeutic communication.
